Participation and leadership of legislators in the gender agenda of the first parity congress of the LXXV legislature of Nuevo León, Mexico. 2018-2020

Abstract

For the first time in the politics of Nuevo León there is parity in Congress, this in the LXXV legislature. This study analyzes how parity has impacted the participation of legislators in their leadership, role and actions in the different commissions of the gender agenda established in the 2018-2021 period. Some of the most important initiatives presented by the legislature will be analyzed, revealing who promotes them and their greatest impacts for the benefit of the community. In the results it is observed that half of the women legislators have a leadership position in the commissions, however the power commissions are chaired by the men legislators and the gender commissions are chaired by the women legislators.
