Introdução: A alergia à proteína do leite de vaca é uma condição imunomediada que se apresenta com maior frequência durante o primeiro ano de vida, o que tensiona os processos de cuidados das mães. A prevalência estimada mundial é entre 2% e 7,5%, enquanto no Chile os estudos ainda são incipientes. As manifestações clínicas predominam no nível gastrointestinal, embora também sejam observados sintomas cutâneos e sistêmicos. Objetivo: Revelar a experiência das mães no cuidado de crianças diagnosticadas com alergia à proteína do leite de vaca. Metodologia: Estudo qualitativo com enfoque fenomenológico e amostragem intencional. Foram realizadas entrevistas aprofundadas online com nove mães. A análise seguiu as diretrizes de Helen Streubert. Resultados: Surgiram três unidades de significado: busca diagnóstica, adaptação familiar e percepção de melhorias no sistema de saúde. As subunidades revelaram experiências de consultas médicas múltiplas, incerteza em relação aos sintomas, impacto econômico, reorganização alimentar e ausência de apoio psicológico. Ficou evidente o desconhecimento clínico sobre a alergia à proteína do leite de vaca na atenção primária e as barreiras de acesso a médicos especialistas. Conclusões: A experiência de cuidar de uma criança com alergia à proteína do leite de vaca implica profundas transformações na dinâmica familiar. A falta de orientação profissional adequada obriga os cuidadores a assumir decisões clínicas sem apoio. Sugere-se fortalecer o papel do profissional de enfermagem na pesquisa e acompanhamento, além de incorporar estratégias educativas e comunitárias desde a atenção primária.
