Abstract

This text attempts to review the ways followed by the memory in Chile from the democratic transition to the present day. We observe a course that goes from an enclosure to an opening, from which we intend to question the transformations that allowed this passage. It is proposed that the diverse demands expressed during the social revolt allowed a recognition of the losses caused by the dictatorship. Based on the concept of grievable life, it is concluded that this recognition, together with a revaluation of the lives lost due to State violence, operated a transformation in the memory.
